58k gang, unite. nothing too fancy, just a straight forward, medium roast, mild acidity, medium body blend. more on the toasted nut and chocolatey side of the spectrum with very subtle citrus. currently around the power law floor, 58k (to be specific, $58,420.69) is a price that will remain in bitcoin lore long after the last coin is mined.

roasting info

• pre-roast blend roasted to about a 15% moisture loss in around 11:23, dropping at 404.5 °f
  
• on an old school 60 kg drum roaster at the moment, but we're stepping into the 21st century with convection (not a loring)
• first crack around 9:00
• 20.5% development / 2:20 development time
• agtron color reading - 58 whole bean, 78 ground (ground on ek43 at 3.5 "old dial")
• for industry folks, we cup 90% of the blend's individual components in the 84.25 - 85.75 sca range (the ethiopia is an 86.5+)

cost transparency

• the weighted cost of this blend is around $5.20 for the green coffee, fob
• add on another dollar or so in logistics (freight + importer fees) getting this imported from origin countries to our stateside partner warehouses
• then another $0.20 or so for the final leg to our facility (and perhaps even $0.15 in storage if the coffee isn't pulled to our headquarters in a timely fashion
• tack on another $1.50 for production - rent, gas, electricity, roasting labor, and production labor
• let's call it about $8.00 per lb
• packaging/label adds another $1.50
• part of the green cost is the organic certification, typically >$0.25/lb premium going to the farmers
• except for the ethiopian component, members of our sourcing team have been to each of these cooperatives to see the land, meet the producers, and verify the farming and agronomic practices (don't trust...)
